reel life

Neither John or I are big movie watchers, but somehow we've started watching movies (at home) more often. Rarely do we go to a movie theater anymore, mostly because it's hard to justify the $10 a pop price on something that will be available at the Red Box two months later for a buck. But since the weather has cooled down, the sun sets earlier, and John's been working crazy hours leaving him exhausted at the end of the day, we started renting movies (and even purchased a couple) as a form of entertainment.

As of late we've seen:

Ice Age
Ice Age 2: The Meltdown
Year One (Awful movie, by the way. I was expecting something humorous and instead quickly saw it was quite a mockery of the Old Testament)
Confessions of a Shopaholic
UP (This is the first movie in years that I saw in the theater and then purchased upon its released)
Bill Cosby: Himself (Not quite a 'movie', I realize, but it counts)
Real Genius
Star Trek

We've also been (mentally more than physically) preparing for our move in a couple of weeks. Since we're only going a few miles down the road, I'm not going to actually pack up a lot of things (i.e. clothes, some of our dishes and serving platters, movies and games, etc). I will have to take down the Christmas tree and put away all of the ornaments and decorations I put up a couple of weeks ago, but I'm glad I'll have gotten about a month of Christmas cheer in our home.

Oh, I started working on a sewing (or quilting, rather) project that my mom started. She sent me several pieces to embroider (they have cute little animals on them), and then I'll send them back, and she will put all of the pieces together in a quilt. Once I finish the one I'm working on now, I'll post a picture!

So I've been wanting to try Red Box, but I've been confused about it and didn't want any surprises. First I was under the impression it was one buck, period, regardless of when you returned it. And then I was under the impression that it was a dollar a night. So which is true?

I love renting movies! Kenneth and I go to the redbox, then into Kroger and pick up a meal that I cook. Date night for under 5 bucks! Not a bad deal if you ask you me! ;) When are you moving?

Thanks for the explanation! That's good to know so I can plan accordingly!
