With a simple, yet elegant sapphire necklace from my sweetie:
The Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens from my parents; it lets me get shots with nifty bokeh, like this:
A few items for the baby, including this wonderful collection of stories from my brother and sister-in-law:

And many, many others.
Were there any presents you were especially delighted to receive this Christmas?

Bokeh is basically a shallow depth of field, right? I really like that look. I want to get a new lens so I can do more with that *one day.*
In addition to PS Elements, I was happy to receive Beetles Rock Band, some CDs, and a new microwave. Well, I was happy about all my gifts, but those were some of the highlights. Oh, and a new external harddrive that is not only a nice size at 500 GB, but is also red!
When I start producing income I'll have to look into the lens. Or maybe I'll just wait and ask for it for my birthday, since I want to start a new laptop fund as soon as I can. I can play a little bit with the depth of field with my current lens, but not nearly as much as I'd like.
I didn't get a book, but I might look into that. So far Googling has been a help, but a book may help me with things I didn't even think to ask.
